Wishlist on Steam
Wishlists decide whether the store ever shows the game to anyone. It is free and it matters more than it should.
There is no publisher behind these games. Protocol 8 pays for itself on Steam and takes no donations. Everything else — the free prototype, the game that does not exist yet — is paid for by players, and every campaign is tied to a specific project rather than to "the studio" in general.
Across every active donation campaign.
What the next two milestones cost us.
People funding this instead of a publisher.
We have not taken a single euro in donations. There are no backer counts or totals on this page because there is nothing to count — and we would rather show a zero than a number we invented.
What the work below costs. The moment anything arrives, the amount and the backer count appear here and in the monthly devlog report.
Payments are handled entirely by PayPal — we never see your card details, and you do not need a PayPal account to send one.
Project 03 needs 18 months of full-time work, so it goes to Kickstarter instead — all-or-nothing. If it does not reach its goal, nobody is charged and we say so publicly.
We are two people with day-job savings and a rented office chair. Donations do not pay salaries — they pay for the specific things we cannot do ourselves.
Every month the devlog publishes what came in and what it bought, down to the individual invoice. If a campaign misses its goal, the work gets slower — it does not get cancelled, and nothing is refunded into a different project.
Character animation and enemy rigs — the work one artist cannot absorb alone.
Weapon and explosion sound design, voice recording, studio mixing time.
Engine plugins, asset libraries, source control and build machines.
Steam registration, PayPal processing fees, business registration.

Cold Angle is finished and free. Download it, stream it, and tell us where it falls apart.
A good repro from one player saves us a full day of guessing. The Discord has a channel for exactly that.
We have no marketing budget. One repost puts the studio in front of more people than a month of our own posting.
No. A donation supports development and does not guarantee a copy of the game, a release date, or any specific feature. Tier rewards are perks we intend to deliver, not a purchase contract. If you want the game itself, wait for the store page — that is the honest answer.
Donations are voluntary and non-refundable once processed. If something went wrong — a duplicate payment, a wrong amount — email us and we will sort it out directly through PayPal.
No. PayPal accepts card payments without an account in most countries. You are sent to PayPal's own checkout, so your card details never touch this site.
Add your Discord handle or the name you want in the credits to the PayPal note field. If you forget, email us the payment reference and we will match it up.
Nothing is cancelled and nothing is refunded. The milestone simply takes longer, because we do the contracted work ourselves instead of paying a specialist to do it better.
Protocol 8 is finished and sells on Steam, so it takes no donations at all. Cold Angle is finished and free — donations there fund extra content we would build anyway, just slower, so a rolling donation fits. Project 03 does not exist yet and needs 18 months of full-time work up front. That is an all-or-nothing bet, and Kickstarter is built for exactly that: if the goal is missed, nobody is charged and we do not pretend we can build it anyway.
No. A pledge is a purchase with rewards, handled entirely by Kickstarter under their terms — including refunds, shipping and dispute resolution. Your card is only charged if the campaign funds. Donations on this page are voluntary support with no delivery obligation.
Not right now. Every euro is tied to a project so the reporting stays honest. If you genuinely do not mind which, put it on the campaign with the further-away goal.
